Last year, over 7,000 publications included the phrase "data is the new oil". This powerful resource has already transformed the way companies do business and has clear potential to do the same for how we pursue social impact. Increased access to data could allow nonprofits to better integrate their services and track their outcomes, while also enabling evidence-based policy advocacy to the address root causes of social issues. Unlocking these opportunities will require major changes around what data is collected and shared, with whom, and under what conditions. Our panelists come from among 50+ civil society leaders who are working as a coalition to develop a joint policy agenda around data sharing in Canada. They are contributing their perspectives from philanthropy, service delivery, and policy advocacy to develop an effective and inclusive change agenda for the sector.
